IF YOU ARE A VOCALIST WHO WILL BE ENTERING GRADES 5-8* IN THE FALL AND YOU LOVE TO SING, (WHETHER IN YOUR SCHOOL CHORUS OR JUST AT HOME) THEN THE INTERMEDIATE MUSICAL THEATER AND CONTEMPORARY VOICE PROGRAM IS RIGHT FOR YOU!
SO... JOIN US FOR AN IN-DEPTH EXPERIENCE WITH MUSICAL THEATER THIS SUMMER!
* Younger students are welcome to enroll with a teacher recommendation.
Your daily schedule includes a total of 5 classes: Music Theory (fundamentals and advanced classes), Music Theater Ensemble (2 periods), and 2 Electives. We break for lunch, which is included in our program. You can extend your day by enrolling in our optional classes or private lessons. Each session ends with an amazing camp concert - given by you!
Many of our advanced campers started in the Intermediate Program and now attend music magnet high schools.
Entering grades 5-8 in the fall. (younger students may enroll with a teacher recommendation)
Some knowledge of music reading.
PLEASE NOTE: All applicants who meet these requirements will be accepted to the Camp!
HOW TO APPLY
Review the Daily Schedule to learn about the classes offered, and choose your electives and Optional Classes.
The Camp will email our "Teacher Recommendation" form to your child's music teacher. This is to confirm that your camper is in the correct level. Make sure you know the e-mail address before you start to register.

INTERMEDIATE MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM
Session A: JUNE 19 - JUNE 30
DAILY SCHEDULE (9:00 A.M. - 3:45 P.M.)
DROP OFF at the Frost School of Music
9:00 - 10:00
There is more to music than reading notes, and the summer is the best time to improve your knowledge or learn something new about scales, chords, composing, improvising, and ear training. We offer 2 levels: fundamentals and advanced music theory.
10:15 - 11:15
Musical Theater: You will learn a medley of songs from a Broadway show. Choreography and proper vocal technique will be emphasized.
11:30 - 12:00
LUNCH(Lunch is included in the camp tuition)
In the UM Cafeteria, you will be able to select from the grill (hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries), salad bar, pizza, hot meal of the day, and the deli. Fresh fruits, desserts, and beverages are all included.
12:15 - 1:15
Vocalists meet in their Ensemble to practice and learn correct vocal techniques for different styles of singing. They also continue to work on their performance for the final concert.
1:30 - 2:30
ELECTIVE 1: elective classes are your chance to try something new! No experience is necessary!
Songwriting: learn about the different styles of pop songs. This class will create an original piece.
Jazz Pop Vocal Ensemble: This fun group is coached like a professional ensemble!
2:30 - 2:45
Snacks (chips, cookies) are served!
2:45 - 3:45
ELECTIVE 2: no experience necessary
Chorus: Vocal technique will be emphasized in this ensemble.
Digital Sound Design: You will explore digital editing, mixing, and mastering techniques, using the software Logic Pro 10. Students will be encouraged to write, record, and produce an original composition using these techniques.

The mission of the Young Musicians' Camp is to provide a musical experience of the highest quality to elementary through senior high school aged children.
