From Hendrix to Clapton to Eagles to Sting... rock and roll never dies at the Young Musicians' Camp... study your favorite songs... learn soloing techniques... master rhythm styles... all with an emphasis on performance... rock and roll is here to stay!

SO... If you are entering grades 5 - 8 and are an advanced player for your age, then think about auditioning for our HONORS INTERMEDIATE ROCK PROGRAM!
And join us this summer to immerse yourself in ROCK!

Program Length

2 weeks (Monday - Friday)


Session A: June 29 - July 10


9:00 am - 3:45 pm (optional 6th class from 4:00 - 5:00 pm)

The goal of this program is for campers to have a better feel for how the pros play ROCK! They will get to play in 2 HONORS ROCK BANDS, and also have a special Honors Theory Class where they will work together to compose an original piece. All of our ROCK faculty are both performers and educators who are dedicated to giving campers the best experience possible! And don't forget to save the date - we end camp with a concert where every camper performs with their band!

DEADLINE: This Program has limited enrollment. Qualified students are accepted within 2 weeks after submitting their audition. Applications submitted AFTER APRIL 30 will be placed on a waiting list. We encourage you to apply early.

  • For Vocalists, Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drums, students entering grades 5-8. A recommendation from your music teacher.
  • An audition demo is required: 5-minute maximum. All auditions must be submitted as a high-quality video file or a YouTube link. Send your demos to:
  • Submit a video of your performance of 2 contrasting rock songs, preferably in a small rock group.
  • *All bass, guitar, string, and wind players must bring their own instrument to Camp. Bass players and guitarists should also bring their amp, cable, and a cart. Dorm participants may rent an amp from the camp.
  • *There is limited enrollment for bass, drums, and piano.

Honors Rock Band: Get coached by our pros!

10:15 - 11:15

These classes concentrate on instrumental technique.
Guitar Workshop
Rhythm Section Workshop (piano, bass, drums)
Vocalists: Voice Workshop

11:30 - 12:00

LUNCH (Lunch is included in the camp tuition)
In the UM Cafeteria, you will be able to select from the grill (hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries), salad bar, pizza, hot meal of the day, and the deli. Fresh fruits, desserts, and beverages are all included.

12:15 - 1:15

HONORS MUSIC SKILLS-Contemporary: Our faculty makes learning music skills fun! Honors theory is combined with composition! Campers will work together to create their own rock composition.

1:30 - 2:30

Honors Rock Band: a continuation of the morning class

2:30 - 2:45

Snacks (chips, cookies) are served!

2:45 - 3:45

Jazz Rock Fusion Jam: a great way to end your camp day!



4:00 - 5:00

OPTIONAL CLASSES (separate fees apply)
Jazz Rock Jam: jam out and have fun!
Piano Lab: whether you already play piano or if you want to learn, practice in our piano studio under the guidance of our expert instructors.
Private Instruction: Individual lessons with the Camp faculty!


Private lessons given by our camp staff may be scheduled after regular dismissal. The lessons are one hour long and all of the instructors are part of our camp faculty. The classes are held daily except for the last day of the session. When you register, you can select the day that you want. The camp cannot re-schedule a missed private lesson.


Supervised before and after care is available.
Before Care: 7:15 am - 9:00 am
After Care: 3:45 pm - 6:00 pm
NOTE: students who enroll in an optional class from 4:00 - 5:00, may be supervised in After-Care from 5:00 - 6:00 for no additional After-Care charge. Please notify the camp if this applies to your camper!

  • Review the Daily Schedule to learn about the classes offered, and choose your Electives and Optional Classes.
  • The Camp will email our "Teacher Recommendation Form" to your child's music teacher. This is to confirm that your camper is in the correct level. Make sure you know the e-mail address of your school or private music teacher before you start to register.
