FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS



1. Do I need to wear my camp T-shirt every day?

You only need to wear it on concert days, however many of our campers like to wear this very cool shirt on other days too.


2. Do I need to bring my instrument to camp every day?

Unless you are a singer, play the piano, or the drums, you need to bring your instrument every day to camp! You are in charge of your instrument - UM is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damage to any of your property.


3. I play the drums - what do I do?

We provide drum sets - that is why there is a drum set usage fee. You will need to bring your sticks.


4. I use an amp - what do I do?

Please bring a portable, lightweight amp with a cart to camp every day. You may choose to bring a bigger one on concert days. We have amps available for rent for those of you who arrive by air.


5. I am arriving to camp by plane and staying in the dorm - can you pick me up at the airport?

We can pick you up (and bring you back at the end of camp) as long as you can arrive on the day before our camp sessions begin between 2:00 - 4:00 pm and depart between 7:00 - 9:00 am on the morning after the final concerts. You will need to fly into Miami International Airport, as the University of Miami is only a short 20 minute drive from the airport! If your flight times are not within these hours, contact the camp office and if we cannot provide transportation, then we will arrange for a shuttle service.


6. I am staying in the dorm - can I pick my own room-mate?

Yes you can! Let us know in advance, please.


7. How do I pay for camp?

You can pay by credit card or by check. There is a PAY HERE button on our website to pay by credit card. If you want to send a check, please write a check made out to: University of Miami (print the camper's name on the memo line) and send to:

8. But I am an international student - can I pay another way?

Yes, you can also pay through a bank wire transfer. Please email the camp office to do this. (youngmusicianscamp@gmail.com)


9. Are there any deadlines?

a. April 1 - early registration discount ends.
b. April 1 - scholarship applications are due.
c. May 11 - payment due for Session A.
d. June 2 - payment due for Session B.
e. June 16 - payment due for Session C.
f. 10 days after you sign up online - $200. Non-refundable deposit is due.

10. When are the Final Concerts?

The schedule will be posted on this website in March. Please, Please - do not plan to be absent on Final Concert Days - We need everyone to participate! Plus - we will really miss you...


11. Are there special arrangements on Final Concert Days?

Yes there are! We will have our regular camp activities and classes, plus concerts. There are special arrangements for bus riders and for campers performing in the evening concerts. Please check your email regularly during camp to find out the latest!
