PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The goal of this program is for you to be challenged in all vocal styles. Our goal is to enrich your knowledge of Musical Theater, Classical, Contemporary, and Pop vocal styles - so you will leave with a deeper understanding of what it takes to reach a professional level.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Entering grades 9-12 in the fall.
  • Experience in one of these vocal styles: Musical Theater, Classical, Contemporary, Pop, or Jazz.

MEET OUR FACULTY

ADVANCED VOCAL PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
DAILY SCHEDULE (9:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.)

9:00 - 10:00

VOCAL SEMINAR
Students will learn about healthy vocal habits, techniques for singing in contemporary vocal styles, and practical application of technique for singing repertoire. Learn what makes a vocalist great - performance strategies, audition techniques. Taught in master class style - each camper will have the opportunity to perform a solo of their choice.

10:15 - 11:15

ENSEMBLE
Contemporary A Cappella Vocal Ensemble - experience being coached by a faculty who has performed with and directed some award-winning vocal groups!

11:30 - 12:00

LUNCH (Lunch is included in the camp tuition)
In the UM Cafeteria, you will be able to select from the grill (hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries), salad bar, pizza, hot meal of the day, and the deli. Fresh fruits, desserts, and beverages are all included.

ELECTIVE
Classical Vocal Ensemble

Music Biz & Digital Branding: This class is devoted to creating a social media presence and branding your image and product. The Music Biz section covers the basics of the business including all aspects of publishing, record labels, and more. You will need to bring a laptop, iPad, or tablet to class.

ENSEMBLE
Vintage Pop Ensemble: Modeled after the ensemble taught at the Frost School of Music, campers will work in small groups to create an original song in a vintage pop style.
Rock Band: be the singer for one of our Rock Bands!

3:00 - 4:30

ENSEMBLE
Musical Theater: All aspects of performance, vocal technique, acting and choreography will be studied to present scenes from a Broadway musical for the final concert.
Contemporary Vocal Performance Workshop: students will be coached on their solo performance or in small groups in a master class setting.

Jazz Rock Jam: for instrumentalists and vocalists.
Private Instruction: Individual lessons with the Camp faculty.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons given by our camp staff may be scheduled after regular dismissal. The lessons are one hour long and all of the instructors are part of our camp faculty. The classes are held daily except for the last day of the session. When you register, you can select the day that you want. The camp cannot re-schedule a missed private lesson.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Review the Daily Schedule to learn about the classes offered, and choose your Electives and Optional Classes.
  • The Camp will email our "Teacher Recommendation Form" to your child's music teacher. This is to confirm that your camper is in the correct level. Make sure you know the e-mail address of your school or private music teacher before you start to register.
