PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

With a full schedule filled with intensive classes, at the end of the session you will leave with a deeper understanding of all aspects of Jazz. Wind players will have the option to collaborate with our new Crossover Orchestra. Our faculty will expect you to practice hard at camp - but the result will be a big step forward towards becoming a pro!

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

All classes will be conducted on online.

PERFORMING ENSEMBLE CLASSES and THEIR FINAL CONCERT

Campers will be coached on their parts by their teachers. In order to appear in the Final Concert, campers will need to record their part on their home device and email it to the camp. Their camp teacher will guide them through this process.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Entering grades 9-12 in the fall. (qualified younger students may enroll with a teacher recommendation)
  • Recommended 3 years experience on your instrument.
  • Pianists should have some experience reading chord symbols.
  • All applicants who meet the above requirements may enroll in the Camp.*
  • *There is limited enrollment for bass, drums, and piano.

ADVANCED JAZZ PROGRAM
DAILY SCHEDULE (10:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.)

TECHNIQUE CLASS
Jazz Guitar, Woodwind, Brass, and Rhythm Section (piano, bass, drums)

11:15 - 12:15

JAZZ THEORY and IMPROV CLASS
Fundamentals and advanced/honors level

12:15 - 1:15

LUNCH BREAK

1:15 - 2:15

Recording /Music Production:
This class will teach Recording, Mixing, & Editing techniques
(two levels: intro and advanced)

2:30 - 3:30

SMALL JAZZ GROUPS:
Campers will rehearse their parts daily in instrument specific classes.

3:45 - 4:45

OPTIONAL CLASSES (separate fees apply)
Private Instruction: Individual lessons with the Camp faculty!

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons given by our camp staff may be scheduled after regular dismissal. The lessons are one hour long and all of the instructors are part of our camp faculty. The classes are held daily except for the last day of the session. When you register, you can select the day that you want. The camp cannot re-schedule a missed private lesson.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Review the Daily Schedule to learn about the classes offered, and choose your Electives and Optional Classes.
  • The Camp will email our "Teacher Recommendation Form" to your child's music teacher. This is to confirm that your camper is in the correct level. Make sure you know the e-mail address of your school or private music teacher before you start to register.
